Updates to Service Delivery by Heartland RADAC due to COVID - 19

 

It is the intention of Heartland RADAC to continue serving clients to the best of our ability, while adhering to the restrictions of the Statewide Stay at Home Order No 20-16, issued by Governor Kelly, which went into effect on March 30, 2020.   https://governor.kansas.gov/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/EO20-16.pdf

In order to continue providing services, Heartland RADAC has made a few adjustments to allow us to continue working with clients by phone and telemed/video, while maintaining the social distancing requirements due to COVID – 19.   

All Assessments, Case Management, Peer/Recovery Coaching and Treatment will be performed via phone and/or video depending on the technology available. 

When you call in to the agency main number, our schedulers will ask you a series of questions to make sure you have the ability to complete an assessment.  Once scheduled,  our staff will assist you in getting connected to you based on your responses to the following questions.   

Questions re: technology will include: 

1) Do you have the ability to download an app on your computer or phone? 

2) If yes – are you willing to download the app needed to complete a service via video. 

3) Do you have an email? Are you currently able to retrieve emails? 

4) What is your contact number we can reach you? 

5) Is there an identified Voicemail, where we can leave a confidential message?

Volunteer From the Comfort of Your La-Z-Boy

Much of the success of a nonprofit organization can be traced back to our volunteers. So much of their work is done behind the scenes. While volunteers are needed onsite, there are several opportunities to volunteer virtually. This is when a volunteer can contribute to an organization from anywhere, and even after the kids have gone to bed. Here are a few examples of how volunteers have given virtually.

Marketing
Seems like there’s never enough time for marketing and yet it can make or break an organization. Especially in this social media society, there’s plenty of opportunity to help with Facebook, Twitter, the website and blog. For the less tech savvy, you can always stop by and pick up some envelopes that need stuffed and mailed.

Law and Advocacy
Nonprofits need help staying on top of legislation that affect their cause. If you’re politically minded, you can keep an eye on the government and lobbyists to ensure your nonprofit is being represented. You can also write your representatives to make your voice heard. For those with a background in law, you can even help draft legislation.

Entrepreneur
Many nonprofits have the drive to fight for the cause, but not always the knowledge on how to best accomplish those goals. Helping them draft business plans can help them stay on track and successfully achieve their goals.

Virtual volunteering can be mutually beneficial to the organization and the volunteer. You get to help a nonprofit become successful while you enjoy the comfort of your own home. So kick off those shoes, kick up that footrest and volunteer.
