Re-Entry Facility Supervisor - Lansing Correctional Facility

Job Overview:

The Re-Entry Facility Supervisor provides on-site support, guidance, and quality control of the facilitation of a structured Cognitive Behavioral Curriculum, peer mentoring, and other recovery services to a designated criminal justice population at the assigned Correctional Facility(ies). Heavy emphasis is placed on skill building activities to assist with cognitive, social, emotional, and coping skill development.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

 Implementation of program curriculum as specified by contract requirements

  • Attend training to facilitate the Cognitive Behavioral Curriculum Interventions for Substance Misuse and any other cognitive programming.
  • Work with facility staff and HRADAC staff to establish a referral and screening procedure to determine program eligibility.
  • Conduct participant interviews and ensure eligibility for services provided within the facility.
  • Complete required forms and paperwork (to include group/individual notes, monthly data reports, etc.) in a timely manner.
  • Provide the six components of the substance misuse curriculum, as defined by the University of Cincinnati, to identified participants in one on one and group sessions.
  • Assign homework to participants for skill development (critical component).
  • Provide planning and execute activities on a group and individual basis, as defined by cognitive behavioral curriculums
  • Provide on-site fidelity checks with HRADAC staff, conducting group and individual sessions and provide to HRADAC Supervisors/Directors and KDOC Fidelity team, upon request.

Ensure effective care is provided for program participants across facilities

  • Maintain a personal presence at the correctional facility that reinforces health, safety, and participation in accordance to the project design.
  • Serve as point of contact between facility personnel and HRADAC staff, providing consistent, timely, and professional communications.
  • Coordinate with re-entry/release planning to ensure clients have care coordination during the Cognitive Behavioral classes/program, and have a seamless transition of services. upon release.
  • Complete and/or schedule alcohol and drug assessments, with participants, utilizing ASAM criteria and assessment tools to determine level/type of substance abuse treatment and services needed upon release.
  • Coordinate the transition for continued care with parole, care coordinators, and recovery coaches upon client release from the facility

Ensure contract deliverables and data requirements are met through ongoing quality assurance review, reporting and feedback loop

  • Monitor and coach HRADAC employees on documentation and data requirements, by running regular reports in the electronic health record.
  • Track, monitor, and document client and program outcomes and provide reports to HRADAC Supervisors/Directors, University of Cincinnati, and funders, as requested.
  • Tracking individual and group sessions, and ongoing development of peer mentoring services in the facility.
  • Conduct regular team meetings with HRADAC staff to ensure services and programs are meeting annual outcomes as stated by HRADAC and KDOC.
  • Determine types of improvement needed and implement coaching/training as needed, to ensure continued growth and quality improvement.
  • Participate in monthly team lead meetings to ensure fidelity and consistent levels of client care throughout contract.

Oversight and mentoring of facility staff and resident peer mentors

  • Participate in conducting interviews for new employees, to meet the staffing needs in facility.
  • Conduct regular individual meetings with HRADAC staff, with a focus on identifying areas for skill development and quality improvement.
  • Coordinate appropriate trainings to ensure necessary certifications of staff are met and maintained.
  • Complete administrative supervisory functions to include review and approval of timecards, time off, expense reports and performance evaluations, to meet HRADAC policy and standards.
  • Provide communication and feedback to Re-Entry Contract Manager, Supervisory and Executive Personnel on developments within the facility.
  • Conduct regular individual meetings with KDOC resident peer mentors to focus on skill building activities and assist with cognitive, social, emotional, and coping skill development.
  • Support resident peer mentors in implementing their own plan for recovery.

Requirements:                            

Bachelor’s Degree work with experience in substance abuse/mental health field, cognitive behavioral education, social services and/or criminal justice area preferred. 

Educational or professional preparation in social work, behavioral health/substance misuse, or criminal justice.

Licensure through the Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board (BSRB) of KS is preferred in one of the following disciplines or working towards obtaining one of the below licensures.

  • LAC – Licensed Addictions Counselor
  • LMAC – Licensed Masters Addictions Counselor
  • LCAC – Licensed Clinical Addictions Counselor

Personal or work experience with diverse communities, including those with substance misuse and criminal populations preferred. Experience in the profession of behavioral health and/or substance abuse preferred. 

Energetic, self-starter who likes to work autonomously, working with clients and peers in a correctional setting.

Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively through verbal, electronic and written communications.

Ability to evaluate statistical data and attention to detail is required.

Adaptable to change and willingness to adopt new organizational, technology skills and protocols.

Experience and ability to use multiple computer applications, including but not limited to:

  • Microsoft Office Suite applications including Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point
  • Ability to document client progress in electronic medical record and provide feedback to staff
  • Internet based database applications

A valid driver’s license, dependable transportation, and proof of auto insurance must be maintained.
